Usage & limits

Zinley bills three things separately. You can have any combination — or none at all. This page explains what each one is, how you're charged, and what happens when you run out.

  • Main plan — your Zinley AI usage (chat, agents, in-app voice, tools, scheduled tasks).
  • Phone plan — minutes for real phone calls to and from a real phone number.
  • Phone numbers — a monthly fee for each real phone number you own.

They don't overlap. Talking to Zinley inside the app is covered by the main plan, not the phone plan. Owning a phone number is its own monthly charge, separate from the phone plan that gives you call minutes.

1. Main plan — your Zinley AI usage

Everything Zinley does as an AI — replies, tool calls, agent runs, image or voice generation, in-app voice chat — comes out of one shared allowance tied to your main plan (Free, Plus, Pro, or Max).

How your allowance works

Instead of "X messages per month" that reset once on the 1st, Zinley uses two rolling allowances that are always refilling:

  • A 5-hour allowance — keeps big bursts fair. If you use heavily for an hour, the oldest bits of that usage start expiring about five hours later, freeing capacity back up.
  • A 7-day allowance — a safety net for the week. The same idea, just over a longer window.

You don't wait for a "reset day." Capacity frees up continuously as your older activity ages out. If either allowance is full, Zinley pauses new requests and tells you exactly how long until you can keep going.

How each tier compares

  • Free — enough to try Zinley and do light tasks.
  • Plus — built for everyday personal use. Significantly more than Free.
  • Pro — 5× more usage than Plus, for power users and professionals.
  • Max — our highest allowance, for demanding workloads.
  • Enterprise — shared team pool, sized to your company. Contact sales.

Upgrades take effect immediately — your new, higher allowance applies right away.

Advanced models

Our most powerful models (the ones based on Opus-class and Sonnet-class reasoning) have their own separate allowances because each answer is far more expensive to generate. This means you can burn through an "advanced" session without touching your main allowance — and vice versa.

  • Free — advanced models aren't available.
  • Plus — Sonnet-class is effectively unlimited; Opus-class has a daily cap.
  • Pro — Sonnet-class unlimited; Opus-class has a larger daily cap.
  • Max — both unlimited.

If your advanced-model allowance is empty, Zinley suggests a standard model you can switch to — your main allowance is untouched.

Scheduled tasks

Each plan has a limit on how many scheduled routines can be active at the same time (one-time or recurring). You can always create more once you archive old ones.

  • Free — 1 active task
  • Plus — 5 active tasks
  • Pro — 50 active tasks
  • Max — 100 active tasks

Extra usage (pay-as-you-go)

Plus, Pro, and Max users can turn on optional pay-as-you-go in billing settings. If you run out of your main allowance, Zinley keeps working and charges only for what you actually use past it. You set a threshold (between $5 and $100) — when pending overage hits that amount, it's charged to your card and reset to $0.

Extra usage is opt-in and off by default. If you don't enable it, Zinley just pauses at the limit — nothing is ever silently charged.

2. Phone plan — real phone calls

The phone plan pays for actual telephone-network minutes — calls to and from a real phone number you own. Most people don't need this; it's an add-on.

Phone plan only covers external calls. Talking to Zinley inside the app — voice chat with your representative — comes out of your main plan's AI allowance, not your phone-plan minutes.

Usage by tier

  • Lite: enough monthly usage for everyday calls · quick conversations
  • Plus: 5× more usage · longer conversations
  • Pro: 10× more usage · extended conversations

Annual billing is available on all three tiers — you pay for 10 months and get 12, so two months are effectively free.

Overage (going past your monthly usage)

If you run out, calls keep working. Extra minutes are billed per minute — exact per-minute rates are shown in your billing settings before any charge, so you always see the current price before agreeing to extra usage.

You stay in control of the cap. In billing settings you can set a monthly and/or daily overage spend limit. Once a cap is hit, calls pause until the next window or until you raise the cap. Default is unlimited, meaning overage is allowed until you say otherwise.

When phone calls are frozen

Zinley pauses outbound and inbound calling automatically if: your payment method fails, your card is missing, unusual call patterns trigger a safety check, or your overage cap is reached. Every freeze shows a clear reason and a one-click way to resolve it (update card, retry, raise the cap).

3. Phone numbers — monthly ownership fee

A phone number is the actual 10-digit line Zinley picks up on. It's separate from the phone plan: the phone plan buys minutes; the number purchase buys the line itself.

  • A small monthly fee per US local number — the live price (and other-region rates) shows in checkout. We adjust it as carrier wholesale rates change.
  • Your first number is free for the first month — a 100% discount is applied automatically at checkout for your very first phone number.
  • You can own as many numbers as you want — phone numbers work like domains, a small monthly fee per line keeps it yours. Each one is billed as its own line item.
  • Your plan controls how many of your held numbers can be active (answering calls) at once: 1 on Free, 2 on Lite, 5 on Plus, 10 on Pro. Extras sit on pause — still held, still billed, settings preserved, but not answering calls until you upgrade or swap which are active.
  • Each active line is configured independently in the dashboard — its own voice, greeting, trusted-caller list, routing rules, and after-hours behavior. All lines share the same dashboard and memory.
  • Release a number anytime. Billing stops at the end of the current period — you keep the number working until then.
  • After a number is released, you have a 10-day grace period to repurchase the exact same number. After that, it returns to the public pool and may be claimed by someone else.

Phone numbers don't require a phone plan, but they're most useful with one. Without a phone plan, every minute of every call is charged at overage rates.

What happens when you hit a limit

No matter which limit you bump into, a few things are always true:

  • Zinley tells you exactly which allowance is full and when it'll free up.
  • Nothing is deleted. Your conversations, memory, settings, and scheduled tasks are preserved.
  • You can upgrade at any point and pick up immediately with the higher allowance.
  • You're never silently charged. Overage is off by default and always capped at what you set.

Billing & plan changes

  • Monthly or annual. Annual works out to roughly 10 months' cost for 12 months' service — about two months free.
  • Upgrade anytime. New limits apply immediately; we prorate what you've already paid.
  • Downgrade or cancel anytime. Takes effect at the end of the current period — you keep what you already paid for.
  • No rollover. Unused allowance doesn't bank into the next window — the rolling window keeps refilling on its own.
  • Everything is on Stripe. Change plan, switch monthly ↔ annual, update your card, download invoices — all one click from the billing page.
